Stabilize Your Restorations with Dental Implants
If you have severely damaged or missing teeth, Dr. Jerry Reasner can provide dental implants and restorations to rebuild your smile. Dr. Reasner is a prosthodontist with more than 30 years of experience specializing in the restoration and replacement of teeth. He offers a variety of dental implant options, including All-on-4®, traditional, and mini implants. All phases of dental implant surgery are performed at our Birmingham, AL, office, saving our patients the inconvenience of referrals. If you were previously told you did not qualify for dental implants due to a compromised jaw, Dr. Reasner can provide bone grafting to restore your eligibility.
The Ultimate Restorative Option
Dental implants are titanium posts designed to replace lost tooth roots. Other restorative options such as traditional dentures rest on the gums and remain prone to slip. Dental implants anchor your restorations directly to your jaw, allowing you to experience full dental function. Meanwhile, the presence of dental implants prevents the bone recession that follows tooth loss.
Dr. Reasner can create a treatment plan to completely rehabilitate your smile and restore your confidence.
Types of Dental Implants
Dr. Reasner offers a full range of dental implants and implant-supported restorations to meet your unique needs:
Traditional Implants
Standard dental implants are about four to five millimeters in diameter. They are the strongest type of implant, and can support a wide range of restorations, including single dental crowns, bridges, and full-arch dentures.
Mini Dental Implants
Mini dental implants are about two millimeters in diameter. They have the same capabilities as traditional implants, but they can often be used to accommodate those who have experienced a mild degree of bone atrophy that does not necessarily warrant a bone graft.
All-on-4® Implants
All-on-4 implants can support a full denture with just four implants. Like mini implants, these devices can accommodate those who have experienced a small degree of bone atrophy. They are configured in a way that maximizes the amount of support a compromised jaw can provide: two vertical implants are placed in the front of the jaw, while two implants are placed at angles on either side of the dental arch. With All-on-4, Dr. Reasner can usually place the implants and attach the dentures all in a single visit.
Restorations
Once your implants are in place, Dr. Reasner can provide a custom restoration to complete your smile rehabilitation:
Implant-Supported Dentures
We offer several types of full and partial dentures that attach to dental implants in order to provide excellent stability and functionality.
Prettau® Implant Bridge
For patients wanting the most lifelike smile possible, Dr. Reasner offers the Prettau® implant bridge, which is crafted from Prettau zirconia, the strongest restorative material available in prosthodontics. Meanwhile, zirconia can be crafted to look indistinguishable from natural teeth.
Implant-Supported Crowns
If you have lost a single tooth, an implant-supported crown can complete your smile. Unlike a traditional dental bridge, an implant-supported crown can prevent jaw atrophy.
Placing Dental Implants
The dental implant timeline will vary depending on the number and type of dental implants you need. Additionally, if you have suffered bone loss, you may need a bone graft before proceeding with dental implants. Dr. Reasner uses guided surgery for unparalleled precision. Once the implants are in place, it can take three to six months for them to fully heal.
