What are Dentures?
Dentures are a type of prosthesis to replace teeth that have been lost due to gum disease, tooth decay, or injury. Dr. Reasner offers a variety restoration options to meet the unique needs of our patients. We offer both partial and full-arch restorations as well as both traditional and implant-supported treatments.
Full and Partial Dentures
Full dentures replace an entire row of missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw, or both. These removable dentures are held in place with adhesive or natural suction. Partials replace a large number of missing teeth throughout your smile that cannot be restored with a dental bridge. Removable partials are secured to the remaining teeth with well-hidden metal clasps.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Unlike traditional dentures, which are removable, implant-supported dentures are generally fixed in place. These advanced restorations are also available as both partial and full dentures. Your restoration will attach to dental implants, receiving superior support than traditional options. Because the implants are surgically placed in the jawbone, you will not suffer bone loss, nor will you ever have to worry about your dentures slipping out of place.
Receiving Your Custom Dentures
The process receive dentures begins with a consultation with Dr. Reasner. He will carefully examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone to determine which options are appropriate for you and explain your cost estimate. After discussing your individual goals, he can begin designing your treatment plan.
To create both traditional and implant-supported dentures, Dr. Reasner will take digital impressions, which a lab will then use to create your custom dental prosthetic. It will typically take two weeks to create your completely customized restorations. For implant-supported dentures, you will need to undergo dental implant surgery, followed by a three to six month healing period, before we can place your final restoration.
Dentures can fill any gaps in your smile so you can feel confident when smiling, laughing, and speaking.
Life-Changing Benefits
Dentures offer a wide range of benefits for patients who have suffered from tooth loss. These restorations can restore your dental function so you can enjoy a varied diet once more. Dentures can also fill any gaps in your smile so you can feel confident when smiling, laughing, and speaking. A fuller smile will also support any facial tissues that have sagged or turned inward since losing your teeth, so you can enjoy a more youthful appearance. In addition, implant-supported dentures can improve your oral health, preventing bone loss and further shifts in your facial features.
